Stella Shamsirad is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and Member of Speech Pathology Australia. Stella's experience includes a particular focus on supporting children and adults with complex needs, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies, feeding and swallowing support and providing therapy for speech and language disorders.
In her career, Stella has worked in the not-for-profit sector, in private practice and as a mobile therapist. She has experience delivering therapy in conjunction with a broader team of allied health professionals in an intensive therapy model, on a one-to-one basis as well as in group settings. Stella delivers therapy in a variety of locations, including home, community facilities, schools, workplaces and day-programs.
Stella believes in a flexible therapy approach that is suited to the needs and goals of each individual. She can provide assessments, AAC device trials, feeding and swallowing support (including mealtime management plans), and ongoing therapy appointments. Stella was drawn to Speech Pathology due to an interest in biology and linguistics. This academic interest, combined with a strong desire for service to mankind led her to obtain a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from Australian Catholic University.
When she isn't working, Stella enjoys reading and writing fiction, exercise (especially swimming and spin class) and finding the best coffee in town.
